In The novel The Great Gatsby,F Scott Fitzgerald tells the story, of how blind eyes see, and represent God, through the eyes of Doctor T.J. eckleburg. In the novel Gatsby Transitions through poverty, and comes back from the war for the love of his life,Daisy, to find out she is married. The narrator of the book, Nick,also Gatsby's neighbor, is invited to Daisy's house for dinner. The quotes get more specific towards the end of the book, where fitzgerald is practically handing the idea to the reader on a plate.“He was looking at the eyes of Doctor TJ eckleburg which had just emerged pale and enormous from the dissolving night “God sees everything”, repeated Wilson”(167). if you have not discovered by now, it is incontestable That fitzgerald had strategically placed the eyes at the setting he did, which was the valley of ashes, and with the purpose and intent he wanted the eyes to have. Also, As stated clearly “Over the ashheaps the giant eyes of Dr T. J. Eckleburg kept their vigil”(131). This is yet another example of how the Eyes are being used to show that “god sees everything” as wilson said. But more specifically, the second quote shows how they will always be watching everything. So the quotes tells us what the eyes see and how the eyes looks at them, and these are answered the same way society tells us that god views upon everything.Most would fully agree that it is evident that fitzgerald intended for the eyes to be god's eyes down at the valley of ashes.This is yet but another example of the blind eyes representing
