How would a 12 year old boy who watched his family die around him be able to escape the extermination of his kind? The novel Forgotten Fire is a compelling historical fiction book written by Adam Bagdasarian. This book follows the journey of Vahan Kenderian as he tries to survive the Armenian genocide. Vahan watches the world he knew collapse around him as he watches those he grew to care about leave him, by death or not. During his time the young boy meets many people that affect him for the rest of his life. Vahan develops his character through the people he meets during his journey, becoming the son his parents had envisioned. Tashian’s house. The two become close friends and spend most of their days together and Vahan soon realizes the Consul takes advantage of her every night. Seta soon finds out she is pregnant and the consul throws her out because he does not want a baby, leaving her on the streets. Vahan and Dr. Tashian take her in and take care of her, yet she continues to help around the house despite what everyone tells her because she wants to be strong.
