Couples all over the world are driven by love; and they will walk on glass to be with each other. There are many stories that show how powerful love is, and how far they will walk on the glass for. In the The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie, when Thomas first encounters Sarah he knows he has needs to be with her. If being with Sarah means he has to kill someone, he does not waste any time trying to find the target. His love for Sarah, and her tendons, makes him do extreme things to be with Sarah, and to live his life. Thomas´ love for Sarah illustrates the theme that love will make you do crazy things, and how this leads Thomas to freeing Sarah. At the start Thomas is living his life, then he encounters Sarah, and realizes he has to be will her. Every time he saw her, he found something new adorable about her. “The tendons in her neck were beautiful” (Laurie 107). If something had to do with Sarah, no matter what or where, he was immediately intrigued. “Thomas was becoming addicted to Sarah” (Shimmin par 4). He wanted to be with her at all times, to get to know her better. He would rush to her house after work, or even to her workspace if she had to work later. If she was taken from him would be heartbroken, and would be lost without her. She gave Thomas a purpose in life, and he realized he didn’t want to be alone anymore. As soon as Sarah was taken from her home and was held captive, Thomas was ready to do anything to get her back. “For the first time I realized how much I wanted to protect Sarah from whatever it was, or whoever they were” (Laurie 177). Thomas was willing to risk his life, or take others; to protect Sarah from whoever took her, and punish them for taking her away. He just wants to get through whatever he needs to so he can reunite with Sarah, and live their life
