The story of Romeo and Juliet has many characters whose names help tell the story. In Romeo and Juliet, the characters' names have meanings to them that correlate with their character. Especially Benvolio and Mercutio The meaning of name Benvolio is translated from Italian, it means I want the good. If you’ve read the story you know that, it is his main character trait is to keep the piece with these two families. For example " Part fools! Put down your sword. You know not what you do” (1.161-62). As you can see from this quote he was trying his best to keep the peace between the two families, by making sure they do not clash in the streets. He also shows this quality in another part " We talk here in the public haunt of men. Either withdraw unto some private place, or reason coldly of your grievances, or else depart.
