From Gatsby’s luxurious mansion to the modest home of George Wilson, each character’s home reveals their status, values, and ambitions. Gatsby’s mansion is a symbol of his wealth and extravagant lifestyle. The house is described as a “colo“cheerful red-and-white Georgian Colonial mansion, overlooking the bay affair by any standard” (Fitzgerald 6) and is decorated with luxurious items such as “marble swimming pools” and “fountains” (Fitzgerald 5).

Having your own car makes you feel more undependable and comfortable in your life. You can go to any places without bothering someone else for a ride. It is a big challenge that you will deal with in life because you will need a good job to pay the car that you always dream. I haven't bought a car, but my parents did, and I know how hard is to buy a car when you have a lot of problems that you deal with in life. For example, three years ago, my dad had a car accident and the car got really damage that we could not use.
How does having money lead to material gain? In the Roaring Twenties, people from all social classes suddenly became aware of the class differences. This awareness is a result of the jump on the Stock Market and the World War1. There were clear distinctions among social classes according to location, amount of material possessions and the way one acted. Fitzgerald explains these differences by giving the characters in his novel the Great Gatsby different social classes and he also shows these social divisions in the way the characters behave.

As Nick describes, Gatsby’s house is very large and modern, which shows his affluence. Before he became rich and privileged, Gatsby was James Gatz, a poor Midwestern boy who dreamed of becoming wealthy. This dream led Gatsby to do crazy things in order to make money, but it worked out for him in the end.

False Illusions "For many the American Dream has become a nightmare. " These words of Bernie Sanders are accurate to an extent. The American Dream is the idea that anyone, with enough resolve and determination, can climb the economic ladder, regardless of where they start in life. It is called the American Dream because the United States is depicted as the greatest nation in the world, that offers the most opportunity and freedom to achieve upward mobility in society. However, many people attach themselves too much to the hope of achieving this dream that they fail to realize the inequalities that take place in front of their own faces, which are the factors that are hampering them from this illusion.

East Egg represents the old aristocracy, West Egg the newly rich, the valley of ashes the moral and social decay of America, and New York City the dissolute, amoral quest for money and pleasure. Additionally, the East is connected to the moral decay and social cynicism of New York, while the West is connected to more traditional social values and ideals. As Britannica stated, Feminism is “the belief in the social, economic, and political equality of the sexes.” In The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there are many relationships. However, none of them are based on love and in most of the relationship, the women are also being oppressed.
Since the housing crash there have been a number of articles and talking heads lamenting homeownership. The opinion is that it's just not a good investment anymore and for some people homeownership is just not in their best interests. Let's look at this from a long term prospective. Owning a home adds pride for the home owner as well as the neighborhood. There are people who buy expensive accessories to make themselves feel more valuable. Attire, Club argues, “They [American society] end up being owned by the things they buy” (Attire, Club). Instead of them taking the time to determine the reason behind buying these expensive, but useless items, they think with their emotions. They let their emotions drive their decisions into buying fancy things in order to show themselves off. People are affected mentally because they think buying material items will boost their confidence within themselves, making them feel more comfortable.
