Wisdom is a trait many people desire, but wisdom is gained through self-experience and cannot be taught. In the novel, Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse the protagonist Siddhartha identifies he can only learn from himself, when he converses with Gotama and discovers his teachings have flaws. “You have learned nothing through teachings, and so I think, O Illustrious One, that nobody finds salvation through teachings. In the novel The Invisible Gorilla by Christopher Chabris and Daniel Simons, Chabris and Simons disproves the way we think our mind works. The book helped inform me on how our intuiton can deceive us and make us react in ways that we would never think possible. By the use of real life events and the events that took place after, The Invisible Gorilla changed my perspective on how I see the events that occur in my life today. The Invisible Gorilla begins with a story about a cop who gets beat up by fellow cops thinking he was the suspect, and Conley, another cop, completely bypassing the scene to find the suspect and later gets time in jail. There was debate over Conley’s actions, but he was so focused on his job he completely bypassed the scene.

Self-reliance. Not very many people have this. Today, our society has grown to become so reliant on one another that people forget how important being independent is in their lives. Ayn Rand shows that this is true through her dystopian novel, Anthem. She does this by developing a protagonist, Equality-72521, who seeks to have the privilege of exploring and taking risks.

In the real world, wisdom and knowledge are important because they’re both necessary to have in everyday life.
Gilgamesh is an epic hero because, he part divine, interacts with gods and his story has a series of adventures and superhuman victories. Gilgamesh is a king that shows off his power and enviably shows his weak side in most altercations. Most scholars see him as a historical figure, but I myself think he is definitely an epic hero. He oppresses people who call out to the gods, this is not very heroic, but his other actions will show the truth. Gilgamesh IS an epic hero.
