Throughout the book, “Their Eyes Were Watching God '' -Zora Neale Hurtson, there were many themes in the book ranging from love to racial identity. Here I will be explaining three of the themes I've chosen from the various themes presented throughout my reading, racial identity, judgment and love.
In chapter 2, Page 9. A man went around taking pictures without asking. He ends up takeing a group picture and janie was in it. When shown the picture she is unable to find herself.

Throught out the book “Their Eyes Were Watching God '' We meet Joe starks Janie's second husband Their marriage was not the best but Joe starks doesn't marry janie for love but more for a display giving her the role of a “A pretty doll-baby lak you is made to sit on de front porch” Joe starks was a cruel , power hungry man soon their marriage become filled with resentment and loathing hate against each other.Later on In the story when Joe starks passes away Janie meets her Third husband Vergible Woods but known as Tea Cake Their marriage was True Tea Cake was the total opposite of Joe starks. Joe always wanted to have power over jaine and have constant control over her but not Tea cake. He lets Janie express herself and even helps her learn new skills such as hunting and shooting weapons. Janie's marriage with Tea cake was met with unconditional love compared with Joe starks marriage met with resentment. - Page 31 Chapter
