Another reason books are often challenged is because of offensive themes. Themes can range anywhere from honesty to kindness to loyalty. However, a major theme of Killing Mr. Griffin is peer pressure. In the beginning of the book Mark decides he wants to kidnap his teacher for making him fail the class twice. “I 'm taking the stupid course over again because I have to have an English credit to graduate, and that idiot Mr.Griffin keeps failing me.” (Duncan 17) At first nobody was on board with the plan, but eventually he convinces four of his classmates to partake in this dastardly deed.
