Tangerine is a book by Edward Bloor about a boy who plays soccer. The main character moves to Florida for his parents’ jobs. While trying to fit in at his new home, a series of unfortunate events occur, bringing out the truth behind many characters and other story elements. Though Tangerine has a very interesting external story, the internal message of the story is very strong and is hinted at throughout the whole book, helping the reader see the theme come to life through the characters’ actions and words: never hide from the truth.

Recently I read the book, Tangerine. The story is about a boy named Paul Fisher and his family moving to Tangerine, Florida. The theme is even though it appears perfect on the outside, the inside is grotesque. In this passage, there are many ugly things that happen to Paul and his family. Beguile occurrences take place in the form of a muck fire, sinkhole, and thievery.
It only takes only one person to change the way you think about yourself. The novel “Tangerine” by Edward Bloor is about a boy(Paul) who can't stand up to his fears. This changes throughout the book. Every choice has a consequence, and all of the characters made Big and small choices. Paul's brother Erik’s choices affected Paul in a positive way, but the consequences of his choices were not.
“I remember the fear in his eyes. I know that fear. It’s my fear” (Bloor, 76). Edward Bloor’s novel, Tangerine, is about how Paul’s life has become a personal horror show, thanks to his older brother, Erik. The twisted antagonist upsets Paul by causing him to live in constant fear, making his friends start to exclude him, and hurt his confidence so he won’t stand up for himself.

These tragedies have transformed him from innocent child to ruthless child soldier to rehabilitate adult with the scars of war that destroyed his country.

Paul goes through all of this, and he is left to make decisions that will change his life forever. Three choices Paul goes through are, changing schools, tattling on Tangerine Middle School soccer players, and informing the police about Arthur and Erik’s wrong doings. In the novel, Tangerine by Edward Bloor, Paul moves from Houston Texas to Tangerine Florida, and the first five months are filled with decisions and chaos. The choices made by Paul, and the consequences of those choices, affect the development of his character.
A tangerine is not only a citrus fruit, but also a county in Florida that is home to Paul Fisher and his older brother Erik. In the novel titled Tangerine by Edward Bloor, Paul Fisher, the protagonist, is not only bullied at school, but also at home by his brother, while having to live in the house where his dad lives in the illusion of the “Erik Fisher Football Dream.” In this new county that Paul moves to, he constantly has to put up with natural disasters like muck fires and sinkholes. The character Myop “skipped lightly” while walker describes the harvests and how is causes “excited little tremors to run up her jaws.”.
