Theodore Dalrymple: Two Different Types Of Poverty

118 Words1 Pages
According to Theodore Dalrymple, two different types of poverty exist in the world today. The first kind of poverty is material poverty. This poverty is described as the lack of material items that people need or feel like they need to carry out their existence. On the other hand, we have spiritual poverty. In my opinion the spiritual type of poverty is self-inflected. An example of this spiritual poverty is when someone will not change their habits or life style to help themselves. This could be a drug addict that would not give up a habit in order to better their situation. I believe that the materiel poverty is the worse, the spiritual poverty is a person choice.
