The most relevant theory that will support the study is made by Dr Eli Goldratt who developed the Theory of Constraints in his 1984 book "The Goal." The theory states that “every system, no matter how well it performs, has at least one constraint that limits its performance.” The concepts and principles obtained in the theory will serve as a basis in order to achieve the ultimate purpose of the paper which is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of accounting students to measure their level of preparedness in the actual workplace. “Bottlenecks” is defined by Dr. Goldratt as “things that are holding you back”. This is applicable in any industry since the emergence of a constraint is inevitable and will fatherly result to the prevention …show more content…

The first step is to identify the cconstraint. It means that an individual should start by looking at the processes use regularly. Evaluation must be applied in order to determine if there are certain factors that affect ones performance. Are you working as efficiently as you could be, or are there bottlenecks – for example, because your people lack skills or training, or because you lack capacity in a key area? “As a response to the question, tools like Flow Charts, Swim Lane Diagrams, Storyboarding, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis may illustrate the causing issues. Moreover, brainstorming constraints with team members using a Root Cause Analysis will also be beneficial to identify possible issues since constraints may not just be physical; they can also include intangible factors such as ineffective communication, restrictive company policies, or even poor team morale. They can also include factors such as ineffective communication, restrictive policies, or even poor team morale. The principle of the TOC theory applied in the first step was the basis of the study wherein the researches have conducted a self-assessment test to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the accounting students. It will serve as the preliminary step to be able to determine their preparedness to the …show more content…

The positive effects of the methods and strategies applied would primarily reflect into the last stage of TOC. It will determine how weaknesses are being altered into strengths towards performance development and effectiveness. As a relation to the study, the last step may determine how educational institutions and students were able to meet its goal of developing accounting skills to prepare graduates in the actual workplace. Step two and three will not be reflected in the paper but it will serve as the main purpose of the study conducted. The research aims not only to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the students but also to submit the results to the respondents for them to witness on the constraints which must be subjected to further enhancement and development. Knowing the weak skills of the students, accounting institutions will take further actions to maximize and enhance their efforts in order to establish better educational strategies and methods towards skill development needed in the
