We live in a democracy, and that democracy has rules and laws, because we are citizens, we are governed by these rules. Does that mean that the rules are always fair to everyone? No, it does not, but the great thing about our country is that as citizens in a democracy, we have the power to change these rules and laws. One of the ways that we can make these changes happen is through peaceful protests. The people of this country have a right to want change, they have a right to want to make the world a better place, they have the right to want peace for themselves and their children, and their children’s children. This is one of the reasons that peaceful protest is so effective. Violence only leads to chaos and disorder, which leads to more violence, but peaceful gatherings or protest causes more people to pay attention to issues that they might not necessarily have payed attention to before. Not only do these protests serve as a voice of the people, but they also bring people together as a powerful, collective unit, fighting together for one common cause. This common goal makes people stand up and take notice at what is going on around them. Peaceful protests are also effective because even though it is non-violent, it is a very loud, clear message that things are wrong, and this is an attempt by the citizens of this country to make the government stand up and pay attention.
