What would it be like if mankind did not exist. In the short story, “There will come soft rain,” Ray Bradbury shows the use of personification. This technology house helps human around the house. For example, cleaning, making food and outside chores. This story happens in the future and the house survives a nuclear blast, but the family and dog dies.
“There will come soft rain,” was published in 1950 by the author Ray Bradbury. Bradbury was born in August 1920 in Waukegan, IL. He is an American fantasy horror author. He is known for his novel Fahrenheit 451. Bradbury began to write at the age of 12/13. His family was poor, so he was not able to attend college. His first major work, “The Martian Chronicles,” was published in 1950. Bradbury published about 30 books and 600 short stories. Ray Bradbury died on June 2012 at the age of 91. The story begins in the morning and the house wakes up the family to get the day started by singing the time and for them to wake up. It also says the date which is August 4, 2026. This house is located somewhere in Allendale, California. It also tells the family what they have for the day and when it’s time to leave, but the house hears nothing everything is silent. When it opens the door it notice it was raining, so it warned the family to get raincoats. The house keeps on telling the time and what is being done around the house, but it is all silent no noise from the family. The family dog was outside and whined to go inside because of the rain. When the dog went inside the dog looked for the family, but didn’t find anyone. When the door opened for the dog a gust of wind went inside and dust from the nuclear blast went in and when the dog smelled it the dog died. The house
