In the short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” at the end when the house is slowly dying by the flames it has a very big impact with personification to the overall story. Something that had me feel weird was “ Ten more voices died. ” (line 190) That put into my head, watching 10 people die and stop talking to me but this is a house. Which makes me wonder a little bit about who died.This adds depth to the story and really gives it strong feelings. Here is another quote that adds feeling to the house doing “The house tried to save itself.” (line 149) I see in my head a house trying to get up and run. I didn’t know how to react. But the personification was very elegant in the way the author used it. Overall the effect sort of left you standing on the top of your toes, which I loved and the ending gave me a good ending feeling. The second personification that I felt was very good in the story is on. (Line 60-61) “The house was an altar with ten thousand attendants, big, small, serving attending, in choirs. But the gods had been away for a while and yet the ritual was still going on sensley.” This quote the instant I saw it I thought of the greek and roman gods. One that really stood out to me was “Can You Feel the Love Tonight – Elton John” There is a certain lyric that I like which is “There's a calm surrender to the rush of day.” Which I found listening and hearing the song. This lyric really calms down the whole town after the last two paragraphs. This also paints a picture in my head of the sun slowing down and start to sleep. Then the moon comes out. Sort of like how the sunset is. This would really calm someone down sort of like me.I can also see a boy running around being crazy and someone saying that and he would just relax and look around.
