Are you always on it or do you absolutely hate it? Some people just seem to be addicted, which can lead to a serious problem. In Ray Bradbury's short story 'There Will Come Soft Rains" a house controlled by technology survives a nuclear explosion, but it ends up burning because technology cannot overcome nature. Included in the short story is a poem by Sara Teasdale's, she explains how nature doesn't care if mankind dies off, nature will still be satisfied.
Ray's short story and Sara's poem are very similar and different in many ways. In lines 11 - 12 of the poem, it states " Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree If mankind perished utterly" and in the short story it contains lines 73-74 that state " The dog frothed at the mouth, lying at the door, sniffing, its eyes turned to fire. It ran wildly in circles, biting its tail, spun in a frenzy, and died." Both the short story and poem are talking about something not caring about anything or what is happening in the world right that instance. The house is equipped with lots of technology, but the house still fails to realize that the dog is in pain and that it is dying.

The theme of Ray bradbury’s short story is that technology can not do everything. People rely so much on technology today, but do not understand that it can not do everything. The theme of Sara Teasdale’s story is that she wants people to see there is joy in nature and that we shouldn’t get hooked on technology. Many people today become addicted and do not realize what they are doing to themselves by sticking there nose in a computer and not going outside and enjoying life. Ray Bradbury utilized Sara Teasdale’s poem as an extra piece in his story that played a huge part in the theme. He put her poem in his story because he wanted readers to understand what technology can and cannot do
