What is English Composition II? English Composition II is an advanced English course that challenges a writer to grow and develop better writing skills. Throughout the course, the writer learns about APA format, interpretation, claims, evidence, citations, and thesis statements. During English Composition II, many distinct aspects of my writing have improved, I believe I have improved most through my argumentative thesis statements, as dictated by my entrance essay, rhetorical analysis essay, and long research paper; this will be proven by analysis of each chronologically whilst also relating them to my writing experience in English Composition II.

In my rhetorical analysis essay, my thesis was, “French fashion separates itself from other fashion cultures due to its history, high-end take on fashion, and the iconic ways that make fashion, not just about clothes” (Flanery, 2023). This thesis is a sizable improvement over my last thesis. The only critique I have of this thesis is the impact of the words. By making them strong the thesis will have a stronger foundation. As displayed by the lack of mistakes compared to my previous essay, my writing has improved between the two papers and shows the progress I have made as an English Composition II student. My thesis in the long research essay was, “Model agencies and other parties in the fashion industry believe that it does not matter if a model has an eating disorder if the model or other parties are benefiting from it, however, two effective ways to maintain the safety of the models is a BMI (body mass index) requirement or to go straight to the source of the problem and change the way people view beauty” (Flanery, 2023). Compared to the other thesis statements I have written throughout this course this one is the longest. Given the amount of information given in the paper, it seemed plausible at the time. Despite that the thesis is clear and displays a metaphorical road map for the paper, improving the language displayed in the rhetorical analysis thesis. Promptly speaking, the thesis had developed of plot, conflict, and two different solutions to the issue. Regardless of the thesis's length, it establishes a road map. Although this is not a profound improvement since the rhetorical analysis essay, there is still an improvement and so it displays my efficiency as an English Composition II student.
