Introduction thesis statement Every college has programs that help students in many different ways. When I was an incoming freshman at Jackson College the TRIO program stood out to me the most. The director of the TRIO program Melissa Merkel came into our seminar classroom for about 15 minutes and just gave us the rundown of what the TRIO program was all about. To me It sounded like a good idea because the program was going to help with so many opportunities in school and in life. There are still a few questions that I have about the program. After you have your interview you will receive an email telling you if you are in the program. After that happens, you will be in the trio program and go to the orientation, then you will learn even more about the TRIO program. In order for you to get in to the TRIO program you have to be a first generation student, students who have disabilities and are income eligible students. The program has many different ways to help out the students in the program. They give out scholarships, also helping you get books, they also have a food pantry if you need help with food, or you run out of swipes. The TRIO program allows you to become better students and help you get to your main goal which is to get the certificate, transfer, or graduate. They also offer a support system for students who may not have one. The Trio program is there with you till you graduate or transfer onto the next school.
