This is showing how Morrie is accepting his sickness and that he is going to pass so he learns how to leave his life in the moment he values his life, he learns how to accept new things and enjoy every aspect of his life, the positive and the negative ones. Morrie looks at life like a gift and appreciates every second he has on earth; he spends every moment he can with the people he loves, devotes himself to something that gives him purpose and meaning.
