Thesis Statement: What makes a mammal a mammal? What makes a mammal a mammal? Well, mammals are a group of animals that have hair or fur and backbones. They have four-chambered hearts and they are warm-blooded. Mammals also feed their babies with milk from their bodies. Mammals have existed for the past 200 million years. They can live in places with hot and cold conditions because they can regulate their own body temperature and it normally remains about the same their whole lives. For the past 70 million years, mammals have been the most dominant animals on land. Most mammals are born alive and not from eggs. In addition, all mammals have teeth except for the ant eaters, bats have a unique characteristic of being the only mammals that can fly, and cheetahs are the fastest mammal on earth. So, this brings up the first point, what kind of mammals are there? Why do they only eat what they eat? Are mammals found in all parts of the world or just one place?

What are all of these groups and what do they do? First off we have monotremes, which are mammals that lay eggs. Not many monotremes are alive today but an example of one still alive is a platypus. Next, the marsupials, which are mammals that have pouches. An example of these are Wallabies, Kangaroos and Koalas. Lastly, the placental mammals all bear live young and have a placenta. Some examples of placental mammals are humans, horses and sheep. There are many different kind of mammals and they are very diverse. There are some mammals that can even fly, mammals that live underground, mammals that live underwater, and mammals that live on
