Have you ever had a rough time? Was your life ever rough?. In S.E. Hinton, The Outsiders she shows that things can be hard no matter where you come from. Overall, The Outsiders is a book about two gangs that are rivals There are two kids from the greaser gang that run away from home. The two boys go to a park to cool off. The boys are then jumped by the Socs and start to drown one of the boys his name is Ponyboy. The other greaser boy Johnny kills the head Soc Bob. The two boys are then so scared they run away from home for real this time. They go to a different town and hide out in a church. The boys have to change their appearance, they go back home and are not put in jail but, the two gangs get into a big rumble because Johnny killed Bob the Soc. Throughout The Outsiders the theme, “ Things are rough all over” is show through Bob being killed, Cherry being a spy for the greasers and, Johnny's parents always fighting. …show more content…

When Bob was younger he and a couple of his Soc buddies jumped Johnny. Johnny is a member of the other gang the greaser. It was late at night and Johnny went to the park to clear his head with a friend of his PonyBoy. Bob tried to kill Johnny's friend by drowning him in a fountain at the park. So, Johnny kills Bob, this is shown when Johnny says… “ I killed him he said slowly. “I killed that boy. Bob, the handsome Soc…” (Hinton,56). Johnny, a young boy killed Bob a Soc because he was killing his friend. Johnny is super scared because he killed Bob. This makes Bob's life rough because he died at such a young age and didn't get to experience many thing in life that you experience as a adult. Overall, this shows that Bob had things rough because he dies due to a bad choice he
