In “She’s Come Undone”, Dolores Price is a woman who tells her story from the age of four to the age of forty years old. She goes through many obstacles in which first include her mother’s miscarriage that left her mother wounded mentally, she would walk around like a zombie and disregard her daughter, Dolores. Since, the miscarriage her mother and father drifted apart and eventually got divorced leaving Dolores devastated and left not understanding why all this is happening. Her family then separated and she goes to live with her grandmother and mother where they soon buy a TV which starts it all. Wally Lamb the author of She’s Come Undone was born in Norwich, CT which influences the setting of the book.
Crazy Like Us: The Globalization of the American Psyche begins by discussing the westernization of illness in other countries. The book, which was written by Ethan Watters, gives four examples of the Americanization of illness, discussing anorexia in Hong Kong, PTSD in Sri Lanka, schizophrenia in Zanzibar, and depression in Japan. The first chapter, “The Rise of Anorexia in Hong Kong”, begins with Dr. Lee. Dr. Lee has spent years studying anorexia, and has found the course of the disease has changed throughout history, especially after the introduction of the DSM. In early research, Dr. Lee found that many clients who reported an anorexia- type disease showed physical symptoms, such as stomachaches and feelings of a blocked esophagus.
The Beauty in Breaking by Michele Harper is a memoir about Dr. Michele Harper. In this book, she discussed the ways that systemic racism finds its way into the healthcare system. In Chapter 5, Dr. Harper tells a story of a young Black man who refused to be examined after police brought him to the hospital. Had Dr. Harper not stood up for the young man, his right to refuse treatment would have been violated. This story is an example of how Black people's rights can be violated in healthcare.

After Montag and his wife, MIldred got into an argument over the books Montag has been secretly hiding, he searches for Faber, “‘My wife’s dying. A friend of mine’s already dead. Someone who may have been a friend was burnt less than twenty-four hours ago. You’re the only one I knew might help me.” (Bradbury 83).
After they realize that the assailant is one of them, and not someone hiding on the island, (on page 165) the first character introduced, Justice Lawrence Wargrave, said that “I reiterate my positive belief that of the seven persons assembled in this room one is a dangerous and probably insane criminal… From now on, it is our task to suspect each and every one amongst us.” While they do this, they believe that the murderer is one of the others (which is true), but their guesses are usually incorrect. For example, on page 169-170, Philip Lombard and Vera Claythorne discuss who they think the killer is and both of them are wrong. Philip suspects Judge Lawrence Wargrave and Vera suspects Doctor Armstrong, who Lombard soon begins to distrust as well. The use of irony adds to the suspense because it shows that the characters cannot escape their fate by reasoning out who the killer is, as they are always
Wright killed the canary and is also motive for Mrs. Wright to seek revenge. The women conclude that Mrs. Wright’s bird was her prized possession, the bird even reminds the women of Mrs. Wright, “‘She—come to think of it, she was kind of like a bird herself. Real sweet and pretty, but kind of timid and—fluttery. How—she—did—change.’”
A prominent piece of evidence that was found in the house was a broken bird cage and the question lies within what her personal interpretation of this object was. With a solemn tone, Martha replied, “I believe Minnie’s husband ripped the cage door open when in a rage and snapped the bird’s neck, so she did the same to him.” It is hard to believe that one’s emotions could so greatly influence their actions but in this case, it seems as if the Wright’s were involved in an unhappy, abusive marriage. To connect back to the bird queries, I also asked Mrs. Hale what she did with the deceased creature that Minnie Wright held so dearly. Martha without hesitation mentioned that she “grabbed it without a second thought” and that she wishes to bury it because Minnie would have wanted that.
The scene begins to unfolds in their minds. Mr. Wright yanking open the cage door, taking out the bird, and breaking its fragile neck was enough to make Mrs. Wright lash out, and in a heat of passion, kill her husband. As the trifles collect, the women worry that the men will see their findings, and have what they need to prove Mrs. Wright guilty. Though the men believe her to be the murderer, the women are trying their best to hide the evidence that will prove it.
The men of the group, much like John in “The Yellow Wallpaper,” consider themselves more capable than the women and refuse to consider Mrs. Wright as anything other than irrational. The men leave the women to their “trifles” on the first floor, where they discover a broken bird cage, and the bird’s body, broken, carefully wrapped in a small, decorative box. They realize that Mr. Wright had wrung the neck of his wife’s beloved bird and broken its cage. Mrs. Wright, once known for her cheerfulness and beautiful singing, she stopped singing when she encountered Mr. Wright. Just like he did with the bird, Mr. Wright choked the life out of his wife until, finally, Mrs. Wright literally choked the life out of her husband.
She then suggests to Mrs. Peters that she should take the unfinished quilt home to “’take up her mind.’” This leads them to search for Mrs. Wright’s patches and sewing accessories. They discover a “pretty box” and assume it is where she keeps her scissors (Glaspell 1417). This is when they discover a dead canary wrapped up in a piece of silk; it was the missing bird. Right away they notice the bird's neck
These words immediately hints at the tragedy of the novel, as the bird echoes the phrases of rejection that it has heard many times. Although Madame Lebrun’s parrot speaks English, French, and “a little Spanish,” it also speaks a “language which nobody understood, unless it was the mocking-bird that hung on the other side of the door, whistling his fluty notes. . . .” (1). Caged and misunderstood, the parrot’s position represents Edna’s -- Edna also speaks a language that nobody, not even her husband, friends, or lovers, understand.
Okonkwo Falls Apart Chinua Achebe offers a rare look at the natives perspective during colonialism in his work Things Fall Apart.
