A tragic hero is a man or woman who who is a hero or a good person who goes through something hard during their adventures or life time. In the book Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, it follows the main character as he deals with. Okonkwo the main character; is a tragic hero, because although he wanted to achieve his goals, however something was always in the way some flaws or problems that contributed to a downfall of him. He is very bitter, however, he meets the consequences of choices with courage. He was a very important, respected person in his tribe, he was “their hero” however, he was still challenged in many ways making a downfall.

A main reason he is a tragic hero is he does everything he can to be the best and not be like his father who was weak and a bad person who was not respected whatsoever, ‘’Perhaps down in his heart Okonkwo was not a cruel man. He could return to the clan after seven years”… (13.16) Okonkwo had accidently killed this boy and was kicked out of his clan for 7 years yes this was a bad offence but they didn't cut him slack what so ever.
