The fact that people disrespect her enough to lie about her shows that she committed suicide because of the resentment that she had after learning about the rumors. This demonstrates that most of the people on Hannah’s cassettes treated her as an object for their own image. If they had seen her as a friend, they might have been able to avoid her feeling of resentment which led to her death. These acts may not have seemed like bullying to the bullies, but to Hannah they were cruel actions that resulted in her death.
