“This is Just To Say” by William Carlos Williams does not say much at all really; on the surface it seems like an apology note someone would leave on the fridge, and it leaves one wondering what the point of the poem is. While Williams may not have intended the poem to have so many diverse meanings, it can be heavily related to many things, including the “hookup culture” of modern society, and the increased awareness of sexual violence in recent years. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, one in five women and one in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives, and nearly one in ten women has been raped by an intimate partner in her lifetime, as of 2015. With the recent awareness of the danger and high possibility
