The Character Thomas from This Is What It Means To Say Phoenix, Arizona embarks on a road trip to help his old friend Victor handle his fathers’ dead corpse. Thomas is a young boy who has lived on the reservation his whole life. He is known for telling many stories that come so him, sometimes as visions. He used to have a childhood friend named victor but they broke apart as teenagers. One day victor got the news that his father had died but the leaders of the reservation couldn’t fund his trip to dispose of his fathers’ body. When thomas found out he offered to help fund the trip as long as he accompany victor on the trip. Throughout the rest of the story, thomas and victor travel together to Arizona and dispose of the dead corpse. Ever since that night thomas and victor were no longer friends. Thomas’ has a good forgiving nature, heart, and isn’t afraid to be himself even when people stop talking to him. For instance, when all the other kids talked behind his back and made fun of him, he still told his stories to whoever would listen and kept to himself. Also, when Thomas heard the news about Victors’ father he is willing to put all the money he has been saving up towards the trip. Thomas says “i can lend you the money you need… just take me with you”. As the two go off on their journey, they begin to laugh together as they once did as children. At one point Victor apologizes for the fight they got into when he was drunk. Thomas replied “Oh, it was nothing. We were just kids and you were drunk. He understood the situation of the fight that day and before he even after all those years without an apology, thomas forgave Victor. His compassion and caring nature caused him to help drive home when him and victor gathered the
