Thomas Edison Thomas Edison is a common household name. He was a famous inventor and most famously known for the invention of the light bulb. Thomas Edison became the most well-recognized inventor of all time, as he quickly became intelligent on his own, and succeeded on his own knowledge, inventing the most popular one, the Light Bulb.. Thomas Edison is born long ago in February 11, 1847, in Milan, Ohio (“Thomas Edison”). His middle name (sometimes what he was referred to as well) was “Alva”, everyone that knew him called him “Al”, or “Alva” (Carlson). The little boy was 3-years old, almost being run over by an errant train passing by. The boy's father was extremely grateful and full of delight that his little boy had been saved, that he offered to show Thomas how to use a telegraph. As of the age of 15, thomas had learned enough of expirience to get a job being employed as a telegraph operator. More or so for about the next 5 years, Edison traveled through and and through and through the MidWest as a Itinerant Telegrapher, used as a technical substitution for those who had gone to battle in the civil war (“Thomas Edison”).

Referred to as an independent entrepreneur, edison arranged numerous partnerships and developed and devoted his products for the largest bidder. In one such instance,edison decided for western union the Quadruplex Telegraph, capable of transmitting two-signals in two different directions on the same wire, but railroad tycoon Jay Gould snatched the invention from Western Union, paying Edison more than one hundred & thousand dollars in cash, bonds, and stock, and generating years of litigation. As his succes kept growing, in 1871 Edison married 16-year-old Mary Stilwell, who was also serving as an employee at one of his businesses. Mary and Thomas had a 13 year marriage,they also had 3 children in that span, Thomas JR., Marian, and William, who as well became an inventor. By this time, it was early on in the 1870’s and Edison gained a high profile reputation as a first rate
