When Americans hear the name, Thomas Jefferson, most refer to Jefferson as the third President of the United States. As true as that is, Jefferson meant much more to U.S. than just being the third President. He was an inventor, a leader, the author of the Declaration of Independence, an important part of the Louisiana Purchase, and much more. All of Jefferson’s actions were successful enough to help make America what is is today. Jefferson knew exactly what he wanted to do when he grew up. He wanted to make his visions of America happen. Jefferson, being a philosopher, thought long and hard about what he could do to help make America better (Thomas Jefferson: President & Philosopher 3). Jefferson started his dream by inventing new ways to help improve how we live our lives. Jefferson’s inventions sparked in the mid 1700’s are still being used as modern inventions today.
