I chose to focus my posting on Thomas Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson was a very knowledgeable man. Jefferson had a lot of jobs like being a politician, scientist, inventor, statesman, and more. Thomas was a part of the Continental Congress, governor of Virginia, vice president, and a United States president. Thomas Jefferson did a lot during the eighteenth century in history. For example, he founded the Democratic Party. Also, during his presidency, he expanded the United States by doubling it and gaining control of the Mississippi River. Most of his life, Thomas Jefferson fought for the end of slavery, religious freedom, and man’s inalienable rights (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness). Jefferson was born in Virginia. Then, Thomas Jefferson was chosen to draft The Declaration of Independence because of his extensive knowledge. The Declaration of Independence created one of the most important meanings that, “all men are created equal.” Thomas Jefferson’s work, like the Declaration of Independence, got published in times of war (American Revolution), slavery, freedom issues, and more. There were a lot of conflicts during the eighteenth century like whether slavery was acceptable or not, what rights were given to men, equality, religious issues, and freedom. One of Thomas Jefferson’s goals was to give men inalienable rights (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness).
