During the 1930s, America suffered through the worst economic collapse in US history. This time was know as the Great Depression. The three causes of the Great Depression were the stockmarket crash of 1929, the failure of banks throughout the country, and the Dust Bowl. In the 1920s, the US stockmarket had gone under a rapid expansion and came to a peak in August of 1929, but on October 29, Black Tuesday, the stockmarket crashed. Thousands of investors lost an abundance of money. This caused the industrial world to fall into a depression lasting ten years. It was longest downturn of the US industrial world.
