The War was mostly Mexico’s fault for three reasons. The war was Mexico’s fault because the US wanted peace and Mexico did not, they did not honor a treaty, and they stopped communication with the US. The US soldiers were ordered to stay on what they thought was their border and to not engage, but they were ambushed by the Mexican army. The Government specifically told their troops to stay peaceful so that there would be no war. Mexico however ambushed them while giving little warning to retreat and without a declaration of war. Mexico also did not honor the treaty for independence of Texas which caused much confusion and was the whole reason for the war.
