In Yann Martel’s novel Life of Pi the readers follow the protagonist, Pi Patel, and his feline companion Richard Parker. In the beginning of novel, readers learn that Pi is very curious, mentally and spiritually, through his study of the three-toed-sloth, wanting to learn how to swim, and inquiring about different religions. Pi lives in India with his mother, father, and brother Ravi. He grows up in a zoo because his father owns the animals. Further on, Pi takes an interest in three religions, Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam. This shows a lot of his character because he seeks for more information and is very openminded. When Pi’s father and mother introduce the idea of moving to Canada, Pi does not seem very taken towards it. After the Tsimtsum,
