There are three types of government in the united states, two of them are state government and the national government, and inside those types there are three branches. The Illinois state government and United states government have many things that are both similar and different to each other. The first branch is the legislative Branch. Both have governments have two houses, the House of Representatives and the Senate. But, in the United States government the two houses make up the Senate. In Illinois the houses make up the General Assembly. Another similarity is that both governments both allow the two houses to make laws to be approved or vetoed by the head of that government. One more difference is the amount of people in each house. The government that meets in Springfield has a total 177 members with 118 in the House and 59 in the Senate. Another difference is the salary of the leaders. The president’s salary is 400,000 dollars, and the Governor's salary is 177,412 dollars. But, both governments have cabinet members. The U.S. has 15 cabinet members while Illinois only has five. Another difference is the age requirements to become the leader. To be president you must be at least 35, but to become governor you only have to be 25. One more similarity is they both control some sort of defence. The president is the commander and chief of the armed forces, and the governor is the commander and chief of the state militia.
