3 Ways That The Jews Escaped The Holocaust Imagine getting taken away from your family at the age of 10 and getting put into a ghetto or a concentration camp. While you are in the concentration camp or ghetto, all you are thinking about is if you are going to survive or not. The Holocaust was the most tragic time in history. This is where Adolf Hitler, the main leader of the Germans decided to take control of the Jews, and later on kill them. Over 6 million Jews were killed just because they were Jewish. This took place during the years 1933 to 1945. The ghetto is a place where German soldiers keep the Jews. Lots of people try to escape from it, but sometimes it’s not successful. Some people escape this to get food and water for their family. In the scholastic journal The Boy Who Fought Hitler, it states “Ben stayed in the ghetto for two days, sneaking in and out to steal for his family.” (Tarshis) This quote means that Ben snuck out of the ghetto just so that he could simply take care of his family. Some of the things that Benstole were food, water, and weapons. After living in this ghetto for a long time, Ben decided to escape from it. Fighting against the Nazis was something that could be done but it was so hard. There were so many German Soldiers fighting against the Jews, but after a long time of fighting, the Jews defeated the Germans.
