In the play Macbeth, the Three Witch Sisters held the most power. Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, is a play about death, murder, and deceiving. Macbeth didn’t plan on running into The Three Witch Sisters. After the end of a long war, Macbeth came across a cave, home of the Weird Sisters. Witches that prophesized. They told Macbeth that he would become king of Scotland. Intrigued, Macbeth stayed and listened to the Witches. Macbeth let the Witches manipulate him. To hold the most power in the play to get what they want. More power. The Three Witches held the most power in the play because they had magic. They had the ability of prophesizing. For example, when they first met, they said “All hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!” …show more content…

They said “The power of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth” (1v, 1, 71-72, 80), meaning that no one that was born from a woman could hurt Macbeth, but then they got another prophecy, “Tell the Macduff was from his mother’s womb. Untimely ripped” (1v, 8, 15-16), meaning that Macduff was not born, but ripped from his mother’s womb. Macbeth could be killed by Macduff. The Witches didn’t warn Macbeth, and so they lied, telling him he was some kind of immortal. Others might disagree, suggesting other powerful beings in the play like Macbeth, Macduff, or Lady Macbeth. Or they might say inanimate objects like a crown, throne, or sword might hold the most power. Or a job like king, queen, goddess might hold the most power. There are hundreds of opinions for who or what held the most power. The Three Witches held the most power because they had magic. In conclusion, the ones that held the most power in the play Macbeth were the Three Witches. They were powerful, held the magic of prophecy, manipulation, and lie. They knew about the future of Macduff and Macbeth, and many others. They helped innocent people kill other innocents. They knew Macbeth would have to die and Macduff live at the end.
