The Caribbean is a culturally rich and dynamic region. Linked together by geography and our shared history of colonization and slavery. Through it all we have been seeking our identity. Not truly knowing if we are African, European or slaves. We look African but, adhere to predominantly European cultural norms. Unbeknownst to us we often do these things subconsciously. Thus, it is important to examine our history and culture to harness a deeper understanding of our contemporary ethos. Consequently, making a step towards understanding Caribbean and black identity. In this essay I will be analysing Giselle Mill's representation of Caribbean family life in her book "Through it all".
