Streaming services have been popular for the past few years. There are a few ventures of streaming services that include storage, movies, television, and music. Over the past few weeks, all we heave heard about is non-other than Tidal vs. Spotify. Tidal is a new music streaming service offered by the musician and businessman Jay-Z. Will it work? Only time will tell. For the past two decades, the Internet has damaged the way music companies have earned revenues and strategize on how to re-invent the business. Companies like Spotify and Pandora allows user to access over 24 million catalogs of music for free. According to the Daily Mail, “Streaming revenue totaled $1.87 billion, edging out the $1.85 billion earned by CD sales, according to data of the Recording Industry Association of America.” Building content for online music streaming services has been an interesting journey. Spotify had to come up with a way to intrigue users by offering unique services like collaborative playlist, contents giveaways. In addition, a user can share a song or a playlist with their Facebook friends with a single click, in the process, Spotify sponsored songs can be featured in a news feed.
