A tragic hero, one who has achieved great success whether it be personal or professional. They have managed to catch the attention of the public. They have a good image, a clean slate but fails to maintain that. By an action or event that completely change what everyone thinks of them as a person. Tiger Woods is a modern day tragic hero, he became a hero through his incredible athletic achievements in golf, he failed to stay good in the eye of the public due to him possessing egotistical and lustful characteristics. As a young boy and adult Tiger Woods had a close relationship with his father, who significantly influence him as a person and golfer. “As a young boy, Woods learned to play golf. His father, Earl, served as his teacher and mentor” (Tiger). Tigers’ father shaped him as a person and athlete, he was his greatest influence and inspiration. Without his father’s impact Tiger would not be the person he is today. “Woods experienced a great personal loss in 2006, when his father died in May after battling prostate cancer. Woods remarked on his website at the time, "My dad was my best friend and greatest role model, and I will miss him deeply ” (Tiger). Although this life changing event did not ensue until after his career had taken off it still had a tremendous effect. The death of his father changed him and may have permanently impaired his judgement. Tiger’s father was huge part of his life, he was there for Tiger every step of the way from childhood to
