What is a role model some people may ask? A role model is a person whose behavior, example, or success is or can be emulated by others, especially by younger people. To me, I feel a good role model is someone how demonstrates confidence and good leadership. Someone who is calm, always positive about themselves and also have confidence in themselves is a good role model. A role model may even have an impact on a person values, or even education. Sometime athletes are the people that we teenagers look up to. Many athletes that whether basketball, football or any type of sports plays has a negative and a positive side which can harm their possibilities of becoming a role model. He is a professional basketball player that use to play on the San Antonio Spurs. Why would I consider Tim Duncan as a good role model? Many years now Tim Duncan has given back to his community. Since Tim was a part of the San Antonio Spurs he has supported many causes. The name of his foundation is Tim Duncan foundation. He has donated money to different cause such as Breast and Prostate Cancer detection, San Antonio branch of the American Cancer Society and many more. Tim Duncan has donated 85,000 dollars towards Breast Cancer. I would consider MLB star Chuck Knoblauch and Semyon Varlamov as a bad role model. I say this because Chuck was arrested for smashing his wife’s face against a wall and throwing a humidifier at her and also NHL goaltender Semyon Varlamov was arrested for allegedly pulling his girlfriend by the hair and kicking her. Those people are signs of a bad role model. So sometime it might be a good and bad to have an athlete as your role model. Always aim higher. When you following an athlete as your role model, it would make you want to think bigger than that person. It can help you get somewhere in life and can give you and start on what on what you want to do in the future.
