Swish, that was the sound of Hayden Hoose, he just made a three point shot and swished it. Hayden Hoose is the youngest male kid to make a half court shot in a basketball game. He was considered a basketball legend; people from China were hearing about Hayden Hoose. Hayden not only plays basketball he also plays baseball. People from China not only heard about his perfection for basketball, they also heard about his perfection for baseball.
After a 30 second timeout, the ball was in bounds and as expected, given to Lebron James. The Spurs swarmed him as he stood at the three-point line to shoot the ball. When the ball left his hands, the arena went silent and everyone stood to their feet. The ball hit the rim,
Literary Essay I read the realistic fiction novel, Foul Trouble by John Feinstein. The book is told from the point of view of third person. It was told in third person because the story was about two different people. Terrell Jamerson the best basketball player in the country went to a basketball camp with Danny wilcox and college scouts are there watching. Everyone wants to be all up on Terrell and Danny doesn’t get to be with him as much.
Tremaine Townsend, born December 11, 1986 at Sharps Hospital, San Diego, CA, he is my only son, I decided to write about someone who is near and dear to my heart. I am very proud of my son he has been a blessing to me and has made me so proud to be a father. Tremaine was always an exceptional basketball player. He played first string his freshman and sophomore year at North High School here in Phoenix, AZ. During that time Tremaine grew maybe a couple of inches, from 5’10” to 6’0” tall, no major growth spurt but that summer Tremaine grew 6 inches, now that is major.
Before Kareem Abdul-Jabbar spent 20 years in the national basketball association, he was Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr. born in New York, New York. His father was a police officer whom only had one son. Ferdinand stood 5 foot 8 inches at just 9 years old and by time he got to the eighth grade he had already grown a foot, and could dunk a basketball. As a sophomore in highschool he averaged 19 points and 18 rebounds a game, his senior year he averaged 30 points a game. At Power Memorial Academy Ferdinand set New York city school records for scoring and rebounding, all while winning 71 straight games and winning 3 state titles.
Society is a limitation, often preventing many from following their dreams or beliefs. Some may forsake these dreams and ideals and forget who they are in an attempt to conform. Into the Wild, written by Jon Krakauer narrates the story of Christopher McCandless, a young man from Virginia. McCandless hitchhiked to Alaska in 1992 to follow his beliefs and managed to live off the land for four months until he met his death in the wilderness. His story gained a lot of publicity and it has led to debates about his sanity and heroic qualities.
Kenny Dobbs may be in his 20’s, but you wouldn’t know it from his accomplishments. He is recognized internationally as the best basketball slam dunk artist in the world. Kenny has toured with the NBA and sprite as a celebrity dunker, performing in front of sold out stadiums during halftime shows, celebrity games and NBA all star weekends. His talent is recognized globally. In 2012, through the release of the NBA 2K13 video game, Kenny’s amazing dunk moves were used to create the high flying dunks done by the NBA players.
Dustin Johnson is a professional golfer on the PGA Tour. He is one of the best golfers in the world. I like to think of him as a tragic hero, similar to Macbeth, because of his abnormal drinking problems and his suspension from the PGA Tour in 2014. Dustin Johnson started playing golf professionally in 2007 on the PGA Tour.
In Charlotte Tennessee, November 24, 1938, Bailey (father) and Mazell (mother) Robertson were about to become new parents, to a boy, named Oscar. For “The Big O”, all he knew when it came to basketball is utter domination. He had started playing when he was six, dominated then, played in middle school, dominated then. Then everything changed when he got to high school and moved. Oscar had moved to Indianapolis his freshman year of high school.
Rudy, a hero or not? Have you ever wondered how it would be like when everyone around you, even your family laughed at your dream thinking that it would be impossible to be achieved by you? There was a boy named Rudy Ruettiger who fought those discouragements and proudly achieved his dream of being a football player. The movie Rudy directed by David Anspaugh was introduced in 1993. It is based on a true story of an inspiring young man named, Rudy Ruettiger.
A man known as brother, father, soldier, outlaw, avenger of the poor; a man known as Jesse James was born on September 5, 1847 in Kearney, Missouri and assassinated only miles away in St. Joseph, Missouri on April 3, 1882 (Jesse James, Umsystem.edu). He was as notorious as the president was famous, but even with hundreds hoping for the bounty on his head, James was able to evade officials and remain a mystery. This man “was literally a legend” (Stiles, prologue). His crimes’ profit adds up to an estimated amount of $200,000 (Jesse James Biography, Biography.com), which today could be over 3 million dollars. The assassination of Jesse James is justified because he was not the hero people thought him to be and had murdered many who stood
A tragic hero is one who has achieved great success, whether it be personal, professional, or both. Through their success this person has managed to catch the attention of the public. They have a good image, a clean slate, but fail to maintain that, by an action or event that completely changes what everyone thinks of them as a person. Tiger Woods is a modern day tragic hero, because of his incredible athletic achievements in golf, he was a hero, however he failed to maintain a good reputation in the eye of the public due to him possessing egotistical and lustful characteristics.
He stood at the height of 5’6 in the 10th grade which made it hard for him to follow his dream. The summer of his sophomore year he decided to change his shot for the better. He averaged 20 points a game but it wasn’t enough for colleges to notice him. He ended up going to Davidson college where he later lead them to the be the NCAA final 8 but lost in the semi-finals, and during his time in college
He would do anything just to dribble a basketball. After reading just a part of this book, you will see how much Danny is dedicated and wants to go somewhere in life with his talent. He knows his strongest talent is his passing and since he knows he is the shortest boy, he uses that talent to be extraordinary. No one can stop him on or off the court. Danny is always the first one to the gym and the last one to leave, which shows how much he loves this sport.
He made the team the following year, and by 1985 he was the NBA rookie of the year. No one ever became a great success in life without also experiencing some failure along the way. The person who’s intent on never making a mistake has probably never made much of anything.
