Tim Hortons Why I selected this: I thought Tim Hortons was a great company to do a case study on because when you think of Tim Hortons you think of Canada, and because it's a very well known company/fast food restaurant by Canadians. History: Tim Hortons opened it's first store in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario. It was founded by NHL player Miles G. "Tim" Horton who played for the NHL from 1949-1974 when he died in a tragic car accident. The first Tim Hortons opened as Tim Horton Donuts only selling coffee and doughnuts. The restaurant had it's name later changed to Tim Horton's and then now is currently called Tim Hortons. Tim Hortons was originally concentrated in Ontario but ended up expanding to Quebec and western Canada. As of June 30th 2013 there were 4304 stores world wide and of which 3468 were located in Canada alone. Tim Hortons partnered up with Apparel Group which is in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Having a couple stores in United Arab Emirates it didn't take long for them to travel around most of the Middle East, now currently having stores in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and more. With other partnerships in Europe, the restaurant has also opened in a small outlet at the Dublin Zoo, United Kingdom, and Ireland. The store is also open in more north eastern places in the United States and places close to the border of Canada and the United States.
