Well 59 years ago, Miles Gilbert “Tim” Horton decided to change Canada, making it the country with the top 7 fastest-growing restaurant chains! Tim Horton was born on January 12, 1930 in Cochrane, Ontario. Later in his life, he was signed into the Toronto Maple Leafs and attended St. Michael's High School. Sadly, on February 21, 1974, at the age of 44, Tim Horton died in a car crash after driving back home from a game. Tim Hortons is connected to Canada's national identity because it’s a proud symbol of Canada and its values. The first Tim Hortons, called TimandJimLTD, opened in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1964. Two years later, in 1966, the name changed to Tim's Donuts LTD. In 1976, the recipe that made Tim Hortons known everywhere got created, the Timbit. Timbits are bite-sized morsels of donuts. In addition, Tim Hortons has created a sports program for kids under the age of 7 called the Timbits U7 Program. In summary, Tim Hortons is in 15 countries and the world's 7th best restaurant
