The book I read for my book report was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I find this book to be a really unique and different sort of sci-fi novel, so futuristic but so modern at the same time. This book starts out in District 12 of Panem. Katniss Everdeen, a willful and determined young lady, is not looking forward to the Reaping. Thankfully, it is her last year to be in the drawing, but you never know what might happen. The Reaping is a gathering of all of the 12-18 year olds in District 12 to determine who is going to participate in the 74th annual Hunger Games. There are 12 total districts, each having their own Reaping. The Hunger Games is a yearly event, where one boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts, participate in a battle to the deaths that is televised for everyone to see. Katniss gets there with her little sister Prim, who is entered into the Reaping for the first time. Unfortunately, Prim gets elected as tribute for District 12. Katniss volunteers as tribute in her place. The boy tribute is Peeta Mellark. Peeta is a caring and compassionate boy, who is in love with Katniss. The two set off to say their goodbyes to their friends and family and get on the train to head to The Capitol. The Capitol is the center of Panem, where all the wealthy and rich live. On the train, Katniss and Peeta are officially introduced to Effie Trinket and Haymitch Abernathy. Effie is the District 12 escort to the Hunger Games, and Haymitch is Katniss and Peeta’s mentor for the games, being he was crowned victor in the 50th annual Hunger
