Tina Turner's autobiography, Tina: My Life Story, was written with writer Kurt Loder and published in 1986. From her humble beginnings in Tennessee to her meteoric ascent to stardom as the lead vocalist of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, her violent marriage to Ike Turner, and her subsequent return as a solo artist in the 1980s, the book covers it all.

How to Write an Essay

After being contacted by many publishers interested in publishing Tina's life narrative, she made the decision to write her autobiography. She decided to work with Kurt Loder because she respected and appreciated his writing style. She hoped that by doing so, she might put some of the stories and falsehoods

There are four sections to it:

Part One: Nutbush (1939–1956) – Here, we learn about Tina’s early years as Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee. She discusses the rocky relationship her parents had, the impact her grandmother had on her life, her passion for music and singing, and her exposure to prejudice and violence as a child.

Part Two: St. Louis (1956–1960) - Here, Tina describes how she and her family relocated to Missouri. She describes how she became familiar with rhythm and blues, how she met Ike Turner at a nightclub, and how she eventually became a vocalist in his band. She also discusses the formation of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue and how she got her stage name from Ike.

In the third and last section, "The Road" (1960–1976), Tina's meteoric climb to prominence as the lead vocalist of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue is recounted. She discusses their tours, albums, and performances together. She also details the tumultuous and brutal evolution of their marriage. She describes how Ike dominated her daily life, beating her often, cheating on her with other women, and getting her hooked to narcotics. She also describes her several attempts at running away from him, only to turn back out of fear or
