George Watsky, or better known by his stage name Watsky, is a man who is never afraid to voice his opinion. Whether it’s through rap, slam poetry, or one of his songs, he is never afraid to speak his mind. “Tiny Glowing Screens Part 2” by Watsky is just one of his many songs in which he does just that. He uses a darker tone in this song than most of his other songs because he is trying to convey a darker message. Watsky wrote this song in response to seeing how self-absorbed people have become from using technology. He believes that technology is greatly improving our lives, as discussed in Part 1 of the song, but that it’s also turning everyone into a raging narcissist. This is an appeal to logos because it states the approximate population on earth. The reason he starts off his song with a logical appeal is to show the listener just how many more people there are in the world besides them. In the very next line he questions the listener by stating that “ most of us have the audacity to think we matter”(2). This is an example of ethos because he is questioning whether or not it is ethical to think we matter more than the other 7 billion people on this planet. He then goes on describing several situations where others’ narcissistic views killed certain people. He uses understatements to belittle these peoples’ deaths to a state where they seem irrelevant to the listener. The last story of death includes many similes and metaphors, such as comparing him hitting the cement to him hitting a drum. He describes a man who jumps off a bridge to commit suicide, but he never uses the term suicide and instead euphemises it into a short story of how he went fishing for the end of his
