Tiny Pretty Things Author: Sona Charaipotra By: Raven McDaniel The book is about three ballet students, Gigi, June and Bette. In a important Manhattan ballet school, a new girl shows up at the ballet school, her name is Gigi. She is a free spirit who just wants to dance. And Bette who is privilege, “desire to escape the shadow of her ballet-star sister brings out a dangerous edge in her” Bette, she wanted the Sugar Plum Fairy role, really badly. And June needs to land a lead role this year or her overbearing mother will put an end to her dancing dreams forever. Bette’s older sister, Cassie was Sugar Plum Fairy. The food, and her family doesn’t act like other girls families. Gigi is from California, so it's pretty obvious things be different there in New York. Moving on to June, she is only half Korean. And she was only raised by her mother, her mother blames her for being what she was brought up to be. “How many of us have not faced the parental disappointment of not being what our parents try to mold us into.” I understand that we all grow into our own, each individual person. But going back to Bette, you want to feel bad because of her upbringing; but same time you want to punch her in the face for being a jerk. June pretty chill too. I feel bad how she was brought up too. Her and her mom both have an eating disorder. And eating disorders are not fun to have. They suck because you want to eat, but your body isn’t letting you. Because your mind is telling you that food is pretty much poison. I know this because I had one in 8th grade to 9th grade. Wasn’t fun, and they not supposed to be. Eating disorders all come in one size, Miserable. Anyways what I’m trying to say is I really sympathize with June. She has an overbearing mother, no dad, an eating disorder and being bullied at a school where it should be a fun place to be at. Not a blackmail, hating/bullying school. It just kind of sucks for the people like Gigi to be at. Where people like Gigi, just want to dance and have
