Supposedly the Titanic was unsinkable, but in reality it was not. It was a total number of 706 people who survived the sinking of the Titanic. Too many people got cocky about this ship because it was so called “unsinkable”. The arrogance of the people saying that the Titanic was unsinkable left 1,503 people dead, but Mrs. Marie Marthe Jerwan was one of the lucky survivors.
The Titanic is a huge ship that gonna carry people to America. Unfortunately, close to midnight, the ship struck a huge iceberg. The people in the boiler rooms knew that it was a bad hit. Also the captain knew it was a bad hit as well. They kept their calm during all of the comotion. As the passage the “R.M.S. Titanic” says at about 12:20 the water burst into the bottom floors. At around 12:30 they started telling women and children to get life vest on. A lot of the men were just laughing it off saying that the ship was unsinkable. As the night went on each boiler room started to fill up with water. It’s starting to become all chaos on the ship. As women and children are loading onto the lifeboats the band keeps playing on and on into the night. Marie Marthe Jerwan was a 23 year old women that was trying to emigrate to the United States. Supposedly she was going to travel back on the Olympic, but she was still in repair. Before she left to go to America she visited all of her relatives that lived in Kanton Neuenburg. She got her ticket and everything to board the Titanic. She ended up being in the second class, and was on the D-Deck. She had one other person that was in her cabin with her which was Ada A. Her room mate was a widow from England. They ended up becoming really close friends very quickly. Being on this ship was going great for everyone so
