The Outsiders Theme People think that titles define a person, but do they? No, there is more to an individual than their appearance. Proof of this is shown in the book The Outsiders,it say 's “‘He ain’t a soc’, I said,’He’s just a guy’”(p.118). In this quote a guy named Randy is given a label, a soc, while another main character Ponyboy sees past the title to whom Randy really is. This shows that there 's more to a person than a title. Another piece of evidence in The Outsiders is ”All socs aren’t like that”(p.34). A soc is someone who lives on the opposite side of town than the Greasers. A soc has more money than a greaser, they also don’t get along due to the fights they have. Some people that are given the label “a soc”
