Journal Two Madison Loberg Pages Read Since Last Journal: 42 Pages for the quarter: 47 I am reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and I am on page 42. This book is about a girl who starts school in a southern, rural town. Along the journey of the book, she meets some crazy people including a boy from her school, and learns more superstitions about the Radley Family. In this journal I will be predicting and evaluating.
We know this because Mr. Tate says on trial ” Oh yes, that makes it her right eye. It was her right eye”. When someone is inflicting harm to the face using a fist by instinct you usually punch straight toward the face not diagonally. This is important to note because Tom Robinson didn't have a left arm as he told Atticus I can't “use my left hand at all.
Since she was beaten on the right side, it had to be someone that was left handed who did it to her, which leads me into the second way that Atticus proved that Tom was innocent. While cross-examining Bob Ewell, he makes him write his name. He writes with his left hand, which shows that he had to be the one that beat

According to the article, Biloxi, Mississippi removed the classic novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” due to complaints about its racially charged language. The district decided to remove the book from the required reading list in reaction to the racially charged violence in Charlottesville, VA. That being the case, school districts around the country are working to figure out a positive and ethical manner in which to prepare students to recognize racial discrimination
Ewell's behavior is revealed to be hostile and rash. His English is informal and his behavior is rude. When Robert is proven to be lying about the story he begins to act like how his son Burris did to his teacher. It is also revealed that he was the one to give Mayella all the injuries Sheriff Taft witnessed after it was discovered that Mr. Robinson has no mobile use of his left arm. And if Mayella had a bruised right eye the person must be left handed and it is revealed that Mr. Ewell is left handed after Atticus tested him by asking him to write out his name on a piece of paper.
Perspective and beliefs go hand in hand when talking about someone's personal views on society and what is morally right to them. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, Lee shows all throughout the novel that someone’s perspective can change in a matter of seconds. When Atticus educates Scout about stepping into someone else's shoes, when Jem is told that Mrs. Dubose was struggling with an addiction, and when Bob Ewell’s credibility was lost after the trial where he was exposed as a liar. All examples are prominent in this novel as well as many others. The very first sense of perspective that we get from Lee is very pronounced.
To Kill A Mockingbird Literary Analysis Throughout To Kill A MockingBird, by Harper Lee there are many acts of courage. This is shown in Atticus Finch, Jem Finch, and Boo Radley. Atticus shows the most courage in the book but all three of these characters show true courage in some way, shape, or form. Boo Radley showed a lot of courage, but he was not in the storyline as much as Atticus. Throughout To Kill A Mockingbird, courage is defined as standing up for people and doing what’s right.
In To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Jem believe Maycomb is Unjust because The Maycomb he used to know is not like what it is now, Which is shown when the prejudice members of his community are against Tom, Lula refusing to let Jem & Scout enter their church, and When he was punished for destroying Mrs. Dubose’s flowers. To Start Off, Scout was explaining on how the final verdict of the jury & judge affected Jem & loss faith in the citizens of Maycomb. Scout says, “I shut my eyes. Judge Taylor was polling the jury: “Guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty…” I peeked at Jem: his hands were white from gripping the balcony rail, and his shoulders jerked as if each “guilty” was a separate stab between them” (282). Maycomb is an injustice town because as every time the Jury said “guilty” it negatively affected Jem like he was being stab inside which illustrates how he was very confident in knowing that Tom will be acquitted & be found innocent but, after the verdict it had made realizes & lose hope on the members of his community.
Is Scout a Reliable Narrator? In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee the protagonist, who happens to be the narrator, is Scout Finch a six-year old girl who lives in Maycomb, Alabama. Since Scout is a very young child the book contains many hyperboles, or a literary device in which an author uses specific words or phrases that exaggerate and overemphasize the basic statement in order to produce a grander, more noticeable effect. So is this a detriment or an asset to the book?

In the passage Jem and Scout walk home during the dark hours,giving Bob Ewell an opportunity to stage an attack. As Bob Ewell attacks them Boo Radley rushes in to rescue Jem and Scout. After this Scout now understands what Atticus meant it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. The killing of a mockingbird is much like killing the innocent. It is beyond a crime and worse than the most heinous atrocities.
In society, there are very few people who have the unwavering dedication to stand up for what they believe. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, a black man was convicted and accused of a crime he didn 't commit, raping a white women, which is not in anyway tolerable in society. In Harper Lee 's To Kill A Mockingbird, the author used point of view and symbolism to acknowledge how the the several social divisions which make up much of the adult world are shown to be both irrational and extremely destructive. To begin with, the short story To Kill A Mockingbird, used point of view to show how the many social divisions in the world are irrational and destructive. Scout; a first grade student at the time, was telling the story from her point of view and what had occurred from her childhood perspective.
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is a masterful novel that dives into the life of Scout as a child. In the novel, Lee goes into much depth about Scout’s life so that the reader can always keep up with what is happening. When a book is converted into a movie, many things often change no matter what book it is. This remains true for To Kill a Mockingbird between the book and the film. The film is a wonderful work but there were still many things cut out that were in the book.
"London", by William Blake uncovers a city overwhelmed by neediness and hardship. Blake overshadows London’s elegant appeal and replaces it with his own twist of the corrupted city. London is nothing more than a city with a shortage of money due to harsh economic times. Those in power have weakened the moral of the while city so that poverty exists in the lower classes. Blake uses three distinct metaphors: “Marriage hearse,” “black’ning Church,” and “mind-forged manacles” to express that the city suffers from social tyranny, physical and psychological confinement, and widespread suffering and despair society.
