To Kill A Mockingbird The book I picked for my report is "To Kill A Mockingbird". The book was written by Harper Lee. The book tells the story of a young girl growing up in Alabama in the 1930's. At the time, segregation was a growing issue. The setting is Maycomb County, Alabama in the early 1930's. The main charter is Jean Louise "Scout" Finch, a young child who is intelligent for her age. Other characters are Atticus Finch, Scout's father and a lawyer, Jem Finch, Scout's older brother, Boo Radley, a albino man who lives in solitude, Dill Harris, a friend of Scout and Jem, Tom Robinson, a black man, Robert Ewell, the poorest man in the town, Miss Maudie, a nieghbor of the Finch's. The boy introduces himself as Dill Harris. Dill tells them that he is only visiting and he will have to leave when summer is over.Together they decide that during the summer they were trying to get to see Boo Radley, a outcast who never leaves home.After failing at all of their attempts, summer ends. That winter Miss Maudie's house caught on fire very early in the morning The Finch's evacuated their home. When Scout was looking at the fire, Boo Radley walked up behind her and put a blanket around her shoulders, but she did not knw it. That summer Atticus, Scout's father and a lawyer, got a case to defend a black man, Tom Robinson. Mr Ewell accoused Tom Robinson of rapping his daughter. A few days later on the day of the trial Jem, Scout, and Dill sneak into the courthouse to watch thier father.
