To Kill A Mockingbird is novel of realistic fiction. The story takes place in Maycomb, Alabama around the 1930s(setting). The story is told through Scout (Protagonist) as a flashback in first person narrative. The Plot of the story is about how when Jem was almost thirteen, his arm got badly broken at the elbow. It is told through three years leading up to this event. During these three years a lot of things occur. It begins with a girl named Scout. She is a tomboy who gets criticizes by Jem for acting like a girl. When the book begins Scout is only six years old. She was able to read at this age before she went to school. These of course seemed to be just rumors with no real evidence to backup these statements. However he was locked in the courthouse basement when he was 18. Later throughout the book Atticus (Father of Scout and Jem) was going to defend a black man named Tom Robinson. Tom Robinson was accused of raping and beating a white woman. Soon after Aunt Alexandra comes to live Scout and Jem, while she tried to give Scout a feminine influence. During the last summer of the novel Tom Robinson was found Guilty even though Atticus proved that it couldn’t have been Tom would committed the crime. Atticus was going to appeal, and try to get them to change their mind on the verdict, however Tom didn’t seem to have the same idea. He thought that things wouldn’t get any better for him, and attempted to escape. In this attempt he was killed. During the case to try to prove that Tom Robinson was innocent Atticus inadvertently insults Bob Ewell (father of Tom Robinson accuser/ Antagonist). Ewell vowed to get revenge on Atticus.
